Dresden-based SOLARWATT is distinguished twice with a “Special Mention” at the 2016 German Design Awards. According to the event-holders, the international jury was
impressed with the outstanding design quality of the SOLARWATT MyReserve battery storage system and the SOLARWATT Energy Portal. Products with designs having
especially successful aspects or solutions are awarded the title “Special Mention”. “We are very pleased to receive such a high distinction for our MyReserve battery storage system and our Energy Portal. It demonstrates that, in addition to the new technical standards set by our products, their design aspects are also very appealing,” said Detlef Neuhaus, Managing Director of SOLARWATT.

The Energy Portal is the simple and intuitive user interface of the new SOLARWATT Energy Manager. The system gives the end customer the option of monitoring and optimizing the energy flows in their home by switching power consumers on and off via the portal. SOLARWATT developed the app together with the product designers at neongrau, who are also responsible for the visual design of the MyReserve battery storage system. “While the battery storage system impresses with its technical components, from a design aspect, it also gives the impression of a consumer product rather than something that should be hidden away in a machine room,” said Marco Zichner, Managing Director of neongrau.

The German Design Award is the international premium prize from the German Design Council with the purpose of discovering, presenting and distinguishing unique design trends. Each year, high-quality submissions from production and communications design are awarded, which are all pioneering in their own way in the international design landscape. Initiated in 2012, the German Design Award is among the most widely recognized design competitions worldwide and is held in high regard well beyond expert groups.
